Yesterday afternoon, residents at Lakeview and Waters Edge Care Homes enjoyed a truly magical experience as we welcomed the gentle therapy donkeys from Donkey EARS (Donkey Education and Relaxation in Staffordshire).
The donkeys brought so much joy, comfort and calm as they spent time with our residents – who loved the chance to stroke and connect with these beautiful animals. It was a wonderful way to end our month of fundraising and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society, as September is World Alzheimer’s Month.
Animal therapy is known to have incredible benefits for people living with dementia, from reducing stress to sparking conversation and creating special moments of connection – and yesterday was filled with all of these and more.
A heartfelt thank you to Donkey EARS for giving our residents such a memorable and uplifting afternoon.
