Drag queen visits care home to celebrate Alpha Pride

Residents at a Waters Edge and Lakeview Care Homes were treated to a cabaret of musical numbers including Donna Summer, Shirley Bassey and Liza Minnelli when drag queen the Divine Miss M came to perform.

This special performance was organised as part of the awareness activities programme during Pride, Sexuality and Relationships month at Alpha Health Care, who run specialist, nursing and residential dementia care at Lakeview and Waters Edge care homes.

Caroline Wood, Operations Director at Alpha Health Care, said: “We asked Divine Miss M to perform as part of awareness activities during LGBT History Month and our very first Alpha Pride Day”

“We have a real commitment to equality and inclusion within our Care Homes and Miss M brought a fabulous energy, laughter and music which the residents found really entertaining.” 

LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) history month was founded in the USA in 1994 and is celebrated in the USA and Canada every October. In the UK LGBT history month is observed every February.
